Evident Software Partners with IBM to Further Autonomic Computing Initiative

IT Business Analytics Leader Joins IBM to Provide Automated Visibility into Server Resource, Application, and Network Usage and Costing for On Demand Computing

Bloomfield, NJ, March 8, 2004 - Evident Software, a leading provider of IT business analytics solutions, today announced that it has been chosen as an IBM Business Partner for Autonomic Computing to support IBM's E-Business On Demand strategy. By enabling companies to consistently measure IT resources and applications to gain a granular understanding of how IT dollars are spent, Evident provides critical metering and costing capabilities for on-demand components within IBM's Autonomic Computing initiative.

As a core component of IBM's E-Business On Demand strategy, IBM's Autonomic Computing initiative supports the construction of fully automated IT infrastructures to reduce costs and improve uptime of IT systems. The Autonomic Computing initiative promotes and embraces the development of intelligent, open systems that are capable of self-healing, self-management and are able to adapt to varying circumstances in alignment with business policies and objectives. Working with IBM Global Services, Evident identifies where recurring savings can be realized through the elimination or re-configuration of inefficiently utilized resources, proactive demand management, and pooling assets using virtualization and autonomic technologies.

Evident's IT business analytics add a critical component to any enterprise implementing a new type of IT infrastructure or updating their existing infrastructure - a means to efficiently monitor and meter the cost of IT resources as they are allocated and consumed. By working with IBM, the common pains associated with this type of in-depth enterprise systems analysis are alleviated.

"As CIOs continue to struggle with limited IT funding due to a slow recovering economy, they must find ways to maximize the impact of minimal IT dollars. In order to do this, companies need a consistent, reliable way of analyzing server, application and network system usage, providing actionable data," said Roger Boyce , president and CEO for Evident Software. "We're pleased to support IBM's Autonomic Computing vision to enable the extremely valuable automation of server, application and network metering and analytic capabilities for the enterprise."
